Several of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ former employers played a central role in the third week of the sex trafficking trial, including a personal assistant who testified that the hip-hop mogul was whimsical, dominant and violent.
The week began with Capricorn Clark, a personal assistant who later became the global brand director for the Combs company. She recalls witnessing a comb that begged his longtime girlfriend, R&B singer Kathy, and says she wants to kill the rapper and romantic rival child Kudi.
It ended with another former supporter and testified under the pseudonym “Mia.” She is the second of three women expected to testify that he sexually assaulted them. Comb pleaded not guilty.
The trial resumes Monday in federal courthouse in Manhattan.
Here are some key moments from the third week:
A former aide says fear has stopped her from calling the police
A former employee of Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment has repeatedly explained that he has repeatedly witnessed Cassie, Cassandra Ventura, but said he has not reported abuse to law enforcement because he fears Combs will harm them.
On the day he started as Combs’ personal assistant in 2004, Clark testified that if the previous work of a rival rapper interfered with her job for him, he threatened to kill her.
She then testified, and after learning that Combs was dating Cudi, she saw his undependent girlfriend, Combs, viciously assaulted in 2011. Clark said her “heart is broken from seeing her hit like that,” and neither she nor Combs’ bodyguard intervened.
She called Kathy’s mother and said, “Please help. I can’t call the police, but I can.”
A few weeks later, Clark said she reported to the president of Bad Boy Records what happened to Cathy.
She also testified about her run-in with combs, telling the ju umpire that she lured her at the muzzle and took her to Kudi’s house while saying she was about to kill the rapper. Kudy testified that she believes Kathy and Combs have broken up. He said his relationship with Cathy only lasted a few weeks.
Clark said she stayed in the Combs SUV while he broke into the house. She said weeks later she was fired for claiming that it was the reason she was trumpeted.
Cathy delivers her third child after testifying for four days
One of the biggest developments of the week was outside the courtroom. Cathy, 38, gave birth to her third child in less than two weeks after testifying as a witness to the prosecutor’s award.
Tuesday’s news of the birth of her son reached the ju apprentice the following day when Cathy’s longtime stylist, Deonte Nash, testified that he was still close to Cathy and was sending her well wishes after birth.
Cassie is known for her Platinum Selling 2006 Hit Single “Me&U” and married personal trainer Alex Fine in September 2019. Their eldest son, Frankie Stone Fine, was born in 2019. They welcomed their second daughter, Sunny Cinco Fine, in 2021.
The attack on Kid Cuddy’s property puts law enforcement in his position.
Ju’s judge heard from arson investigators who spoke with Los Angeles police officers in response to the invasion at Kudi’s home in December 2011, and about their efforts to resolve Cudi’s Porsche bombing after 911 weeks.
Officer Chris Ignacio said he found a Christmas gift. Cudi testified that his dog was traumatized after being locked in the bathroom by an intruder.
Ignacio said he saw a car with a window registered with a bad boy outside the house but didn’t approach it because there was no evidence of the crime.
Prosecutors are trying to prove that Combs is behind the break-in. The subsequent fire bombs include a Molotov cocktail that fell through a hole sliced into the convertible’s dough roof.
Lance Zimenez, arson investigator with the Los Angeles Fire Department, said the explosives were made from a 40-ounce bottle of 800 malt English liquor and a silky designer handkerchief.
“I felt it was targeted,” he said on January 9, 2012 of the attack.
Stylists provide answers from the witness stand like anyone else
Celebrity stylist Deonte Nash is an unparalleled witness, adding talent and humor within seconds of taking the position on Wednesday. When asked if he wanted to testify, he declared, “Absolutely not!”
Nash said he knows Combs as “puff” and Cathy as “Cass.” He responded to Craigslist AD and said he began working as an intern at Bad Boy Entertainment and as a stylist from 2008 to 2018.
Prosecutor Mohren Comey puts a picture of Nash in front of him and asks, “Is that a fascinating shot of you?”
“Yes. I look amazing,” Nash replied, laughing.
Asked how he heard Combs call Cassie over the years, Nash replied, “Um, baby girl, CC, Cass,” listing many slanderous slurs against women. Combs was asked by how often they use a particular slur, and Nash states:
Nash later testified that Cathy had confided to him, confided to him that she didn’t always want to go with Combs’ demands that she had sex with other men during his drug-fueled “freak-off” marathon.
Comb faces a total of five crimes, including two sex trafficking. He denied all allegations.
The second woman testifies that she was raped by a comb
Mia testified that Kombu attacked her multiple times. Forced kissing her, got her dress at her 40th birthday party, forced oral sex while packing her luggage for a trip, raped her after climbing to bed at her Los Angeles house.
Mia said she thought her sexual abuse was sporadic enough. She puts a brave face, felt embarrassed, blamed herself and said it was part of her fear of what would happen if she reported him to the authorities.
Cathy testified earlier that Combs raped her after breaking up with him in 2018.
Mia said she witnessed her physically “always” attacking Kathy while she was in her home, apartment, hotel, event, and travel. She also said that Combs turned his anger at her, threw her into the swimming pool, dumped a bucket of ice at her, and threw a bowl of spaghetti at her in her direction.
Defence could expand if prosecutors’ lawsuits shrink
Prosecutors all week insisted they were ahead of schedule when presenting their case, and said they could call witnesses by mid-June.
But Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo said the defense presentation could take longer than expected, especially after prosecutors revealed that they were making “substantial changes” to the plan.
“We may have more about the defense case because the government hasn’t called for the witnesses,” he said.
As a result, he added, the trial could be carried out at the beginning of July.
