The man who was killed the moment a Baldwin Park police officer was fatally shot and killed at work has been identified by his loved ones.
Darius Wong, 43, was shot dead by the same man accused of killing Baldwin Park police officer Samuel Liberos on Saturday. Filming was reported just after 7pm in the 4200 block of Philharmonic Store Avenue.
Wong was visiting relatives for a housework party as he was allegedly shot by 22-year-old Eduardo Roberto Medina Belomen. Details of what led to the shooting have not been revealed.
Baldwin Park Councillor Manuel Rozano spoke to Wong’s loved ones about their loss.
“It’s hard for them to understand, and it’s understandable,” he said. “They just bought this house. They had a new builder. And the devastation that took place clearly affected this family and they have an entire block. Many residents are very close.”
Residents in the area called 911 to report the first shooting, urging Liberos and fellow executive Anthony Pimentel to respond. Upon arrival, officers were encountered in a shootout by Medina Bellmen, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. The officers were able to fight back, and all three were taken to the hospital.
The 22-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a Baldwin Park police officer had no criminal history. NBC4’s Eric Leonard reports that he is being investigated on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Liberos died of injuries and Pimentel was released from hospital. Medina Bellmen was in a stable state and his transfer to prison was pending.
The suspect is facing murder charges in connection with the deaths of Wong and Liberos. He is held on $4 million bonds.
