The 67-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, allegedly shooting another man dead on Sunday evening in Victorville, according to the Victorville Police Department.
Filming occurred in the 11,700 block of Sierra Road, around 8:28pm on June 29th. Officers responded to reports of the fatal weapon attack, and determined that the suspect, identified as James Martin, was involved in an oral altercation with a 33-year-old man in the victim’s front yard. During the conflict, Martin was reportedly fired multiple gunshots and attacked the victim behind.
The victim was taken to hospital before officers arrived at the scene. His condition has not been disclosed.
Upon arrival, officers surrounded the residence near Martin and issued multiple commands to allow residents to leave. When the suspect did not appear, a search warrant was obtained. The officers entered the house and found Martin’s roommate, identified as 50-year-old Elizabeth Growth, but Martin was not inside.
Hours later, Martin voluntarily arrived at the Victorville Police Station and was taken into custody safely, police said.
He was booked at Adelanto’s High Desert Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder. Growth was also arrested and booked at the same facility for a parole violation.
Police have not released additional details about the conflict or whether the suspect and victim know each other. The investigation is ongoing.
