HBO has officially begun production of the highly anticipated adaptation of the Harry Potter TV series. The network announced on Monday, revealing the first appearance of the nominal character.
The HBO released photos show Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, wearing signature Hogwarts paired with round rim glass and lightning bolt scars, unlike the iconic costume worn by Daniel Radcliffe in the eight-part film series.
The show will begin production at Warner Bros. Studio Rebelden in the UK and is scheduled to debut in 2027.
The new round of actors were announced on Monday, including Rory Wilmott as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson, Dudley Darsley and Louise Briley as Madame Lauranda Hooch and Anton Lesser as Garlic Ollivander. The network announced that McLaughlin was cast as Harry Potter in late May, Arabella Stanton was cast as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Several well-known actors have been announced in other important roles, including Paapa Essidou as Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, and Catherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
The image, released by HBO, shows Dominic McLaughlin portraying Harry Potter on the set of the HBO series Harry Potter, scheduled for 2027.
The adaptation of the new series began production and was released in theaters almost 14 years after the final film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. In addition to the blockbuster film, the franchise has influenced Broadway theater, video games and theme parks since the first installments were released 28 years ago.
This new series will become a “faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book,” the network previously wrote, “featuring an exciting and talented cast that leads a new generation of fandom filled with amazing details and much-loved characters that Harry Potter fans have been worshiping for over 25 years.”
