The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) said Thursday it was adding “enhanced surveillance” of agency decisions on new wind and solar projects to end “favors” of these “unreliable” and “subsidy-dependent” energy systems from the previous administration.

The new directive reviews the review procedure for procedures requiring senior leadership in internal departments, including secretary offices, to implement a final review of relevant decisions, including leases, road rights, construction and operational plans, grants, consultations, and biological opinions.

“Today’s actions will further fulfill President Trump’s promise to tackle Green’s new fraud and protect the dollars of US taxpayers,” said Adam Seuss, acting vice-secretary of Land and Mineral Management.

“The control of America’s energy is driven by US-based production of reliable baseload energy, rather than regulatory favors for unreliable energy projects that rely solely on taxpayer subsidies and foreign-made equipment.”

Sources familiar with DOI’s new, enhanced surveillance directive said the agency is seriously concerned that the Biden administration has given priority treatment to allow new wind and solar projects.

By eliminating “artificial benefits,” the Trump administration argued that “leveling the playing field” for “dispatchable, cost-effective and safe energy sources.”

“These actions mark a return to national security, grid stability and common sense permitting standards that support job creation in the United States,” the press release said.

The action is allied with an executive order signed by President Donald Trump earlier this month, and also serves to implement certain provisions of one big, beautiful bill law that has passed, in line with “a market that distorts subsidies for unreliable, foreign-controlled energy sources” and other presidential directives.

The “large and beautiful bill” provision supported by the directive requires the Ministry of Home Affairs to eliminate discounts on road and capacity charges for existing and future wind and solar projects.

“For too long, the federal government has been forced to subsidize American taxpayers to expensive, unreliable energy sources like wind and the sun,” says Trump’s executive order. “The surge in these projects replace affordable, reliable, dispatchable domestic energy sources, compromise on electrical grids and slander the beauty of our country’s natural landscape.

Moreover, reliance on so-called “green” subsidies threatens national security by relying on the supply chains that the United States is managed by foreign enemies. It is essential to direct the large-scale costs of taxpayer handouts to energy control, national security, economic growth and fiscal health. ”
