Parts of the Pacific Coast Highway from Malibu and the Pacific Ocean from Pallisad will remain closed Friday morning after a series of landslides overcame the roads during Thursday’s powerful storm.
In the video, a bulldozer crew worked overnight to remove mud and debris from the highway. It is closed between Chotoka Boulevard in Pallisade in the Pacific Ocean and Carbon Beach Terrace in Malibu.
“The severe closure of the Pacific coastal highway between Chautauqua Boulevard and Carboan Beach Terrace will remain until further notice due to severe flooding and landslides,” Caltrans District 7 posted Thursday night.

Access is limited to essential workers due to the ongoing risk of mud and debris flow, Caltrans said.
The first slide was reported at PCH near Las Flores Canyon Road, around 1:30pm on Thursday.
A considerable amount of debris was flowing around the famous Duke of Malibu Restaurant.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm brought about about 2 inches of rain to the Santa Monica/Pacific Palisade area.
Light showers are expected to last until part of Friday, but are expected to be warm and dry over the weekend.
