The family of Santa Ana’s grandfather, who was shot near a liquor store, is looking for the answer to the untimely death of a loved one.
Armando Salcido, widely known in his community as “Grump,” was killed in a shooting Sunday at Bottle Liqueur & Spirits on West 1st Avenue. A memorial filled with candles, beer cans and photos was placed at the location of the filming.
“We are not peace, we are not closure,” said Desaray Salcido, the victim’s daughter. “We are still trying to find the answer. I am about to become the voice of my father and the fire of his case.”
Since the shooting, the victims’ families have gone to the monument site to pray for Salshid. He was known as a neighbourhood fixture and was loved by many.
“He was a good guy,” said Frank Cruz, the victim’s son-in-law. “He always looked after us and tried so hard to take care of us.”
Salcido is known for spending time at a liquor store and was friends with the owner. His loved one said he enjoys the visitor’s company and will help him break the box between them.
“If anyone didn’t have enough money, he would pay them,” said Mark Savag, the owner of the liquor store. “To be killed like that — it’s heartbreaking. I’m really, really sad.”
The investigation is underway.
Santa Ana police said there was no good explanation for the gunman. No murder weapons have been recovered.
