A Republican senator told Fox News Digital he is tired of liberal sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, where federal immigration officials try to prevent the enforcement of the law.

“It’s enough,” said R-Ala Sen. Katie Britt. “We don’t understand why we continue to give federal dollars to people who don’t follow federal law. So think about that. It’s very easy.”

Speaking to Fox News Digital in the Senate office building hall, Britt said, “In the last four years there has been no more illuminated issues than millions of illegal immigrants crossing our borders.”

“What the sanctuary city says is, ‘You can commit crimes, you can forgive lawlessness, you won’t hand you over to federal authorities,’ which means it’s absolute insanity, and we’re not going to support it anymore,” she said.

“We have enabled such bad behavior for a long time,” said Sen. Bernie Moreno of R-Ohio. “In reality, to use the terminology of my colleagues, “No one is beyond the law.” So if you have a mayor or county executive or governor, it’s someone who is not following federal law and it’s completely unacceptable.

“I called it out in the campaign. I think it’s all Republicans. We should stick to it,” he added.

Meanwhile, R-FLA Sen. Rick Scott told Fox News Digital that cities where the sanctuary blocks immigration “should not receive federal funding.”

“First of all, if you are a sanctuary city, you’re not doing the right thing for your citizens. You’re not keeping them safe,” Scott said. “I think we’re all really frustrated because we don’t have an immigration system that works in our country. There are people who want to legally come to our country, work in our country and go home.

On the other side of the aisle is D-Va. Sen. Tim Kane told Fox News Digital that “it’s not an issue in Virginia,” where sanctuary city officials don’t work with ice or federal authorities.

Senator Angus King, I-Maine, responded to Fox News Digital by saying, “I’m not commenting on that. I’m focusing on what’s going on in the Middle East.”

R-La. “I think everyone should follow the law,” or “I think we should accept the outcome,” Senator Bill Cassidy said.

“I can’t tell you that you legally know the consequences of a community deliberately rejecting anything from the federal government, but whatever those consequences are, if the community makes that decision, it has to bear the consequences,” Cassidy added.

R-Tenn. Senator Roger Marshall of the sanctuary policy was “guided in many ways by these rawitts, and LA police weren’t happy to help our ice agents when they were in need.”

“What we can’t accept is that local officials prevent ice officers from doing their jobs, and that’s exactly what’s happening in some of these sanctuary cities,” Marshall said. “So, if that means the power of the wallet, then, if so, no matter what we do, we have made a pledge to protect and defend the Constitution to ensure that we all are safe.”
