The man was hospitalized after a lost bullet struck him in a gang shootout in Los Angeles, officials confirmed with KTLA on Friday morning.
It happened at a Chevron gas station in the Vermont Knolls area around 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a bullet wound in the face, responding to reports of shooting victims in the area of 74th and Figueroa Streets. LAPD publicly identified individuals as male victims. His age and name were not provided.
Despite being shot in the face, the victim was taken to hospital in stable condition and authorities began investigating the crime scene.
Preliminary investigations show that the two suspects, only described as men, were shooting each other when the victim was attacked by a lost bullet. It was not immediately clear whether the victim had been grazing or the injury had become even deeper.
LAPD confirmed that the filming was gang-related and encouraged anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
