Police announced Sunday morning that they had arrested a suspected robber in a UCLA lecture room building after finding weapons and hating evidence of the crime.
“UCLA police arrested the suspect in Haynes Hall after recovering stolen posters honoring African-American figures, stun guns, campus keys and other prohibited items,” the department said in a social media post. It was not clear whether there were classes during the session or if there were students at the time of the arrest.
Police did not immediately identify the suspect or say whether they were a UCLA student or employee. However, the department said the suspect is currently facing charges of robbery, possession of weapons, possession of stolen property and intensifying hate crimes.
According to the UCLA Maps website, the Center for African American Studies is located in Haines Hall. The library “contains newspapers, magazines, magazines, books, photographs, photographs, brochures, audiovisual sources, and other research materials that reflect the African-American experiences of the social sciences, arts and humanities,” the website says.

The site shows Haines Hall, located at 375 Portola Plaza, is home to anthropology, sociology and other departments.
Details are limited and authorities have not said when the arrest was made, but said the arrest is related to a similar incident that has been investigated since February 2025.
