Police have admitted the use of technology in the arrest of a pair of suspected Mooring thieves in Orange County.
“Another one of our license plate readers recently pushed out a suspected theft of mail that could potentially visit our amazing city,” Irvine police posted on Facebook Monday night.
Readers warned officers of vehicles parked near the mailbox bank at the northern end of the city. “Where are the other plunderers of the letters?” police said in the post.
Arriving officers found that one of the people in the vehicle was on probation and was conducting a search.

“In the car, officers spotted a large garbage bag full of mail and mailbox keys,” police said.
Two suspects identified as Tristian Quan Le, 54 of Anaheim and Terry Tuy Verpladit, 49 of Garden Grove, were arrested on suspicion of felony ID theft, possession of robbery tools and conspiracy.
Both were “packaged and delivered” to the Orange County Jail, police said.
