With a week of unpleasant temperatures above average, Thursday is expected to be Southern California’s hottest day.
“Look at Palm Springs today, 118,” KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Thursday morning. “Today may be our hottest day for a while.”
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), high-pressure system buildings in the Four Corners area maintain the hottest temperatures from the coast.
Afternoon temperatures approach advisory levels across Los Angeles County, with afternoon highs typically reaching 5-10 degrees above. Downtown Los Angeles will be appearing at over 90 degrees.
Heat recommendations have been issued for Riverside, San Bernardino County and parts of Orange County. Advisory will continue until 8pm on Friday for temperatures up to 106 degrees.
As we head towards the weekend, we expect some cooling, but temperatures will remain normal for a while.
“For at least seven more days, temperatures have been above average,” Henry said.
