In a few minutes of hot summer Saturdays in northwestern Pennsylvania, the already unprecedented 2024 election cycle has had an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump’s life, not only for his upcoming president, but also for staff who have witnessed the harsh moments.
About six minutes after Trump took the stage for the open air rally, eight shots rang out at Butler Farm Showground around 6:11pm east time. The rally began with a typical, lively memo, with the former president and upcoming president shaking over Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the Usa” and engaging with supporters by pointing them out when they clapped and clapped the signs they declared “Joe Biden, you’ve been fired.”
After Trump began his speech, the rally came to a halt of screeching, grabbing the side of his head before suddenly falling to the ground. Participants in the rally were seen ducking for cover as they disrupt a small fair venue just north of Pittsburgh.
Secret Service agents threw their bodies over the cards as shields as they worked to get him off the stage and take him to a safe place.

Acting Secret Service Director Sean M. Curran told Fox News Digital on July 13, 2024 that he was at the top of his heart since being tapped to lead the Secret Service.
“A year ago, I was on President Trump’s side when President Trump tried to assassinate him in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Curran said. “My heart is with Corey Comperatore, who lost his life while protecting all those affected that day, especially those around him.”
“I have maintained my experience on July 13th since President Trump appointed me as Director of the US Secret Service. The agency has taken many steps to ensure that such events do not repeat in the future,” he continued. “There’s nothing more important to the Secret Service in the US than parental safety and security. As directors, we work to ensure that our agency is fully equipped, resourced and coordinated to carry out our important mission every day.”
A year after Trump’s assassination attempt, Butler’s widow demands accountability from the Secret Service
Trump appeared in camera vision, squealing blood across his cheek, before rebelliously reciting “fight, fight, fight,” as law enforcement escorted him off the stage.
Susie Wills of the White House, who served as Trump’s campaign manager in 2024 and witnessed a disastrous attempt, told Miranda Devine of the New York Post in a podcast interview in early July that she believes that God’s intervention has protected Trump from a bigger tragedy than that day.
Trump raised his fist and cried out “Fight, fight, fight, fight.” After an attempt to assassinate him on July 13, 2024.
“The way the meeting itself unfolds, the charts he puts them on screen…it was always the last chart of the rotation. And it was always on the other side.” “I asked him about that chart in eight minutes and he showed me in a different direction to get him to come on the other side…I believe God wanted him to live.”

Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick said he was in the middle of the election cycle to remove longtime Democrat Sen. Bob Casey, but commented that he just stepped out of Trump when a gunshot occurred on Fox News Digital.
“When the shot rang, I was sitting just 15 feet away from the Butler Rally stage. Shortly before the assassination attempt, President Trump asked me to come on stage to make my remarks. As I was heading for the stage, he urged me to wait until I spoke to the crowd about the immigration charts.
“After a while, a bullet intended for his head hit his ear. He got off, stood up and raised his fist rebelliously. At that moment he captured the turning point in the election, who was his core, a powerful leader, and strong leadership set the tone like a ripple effect.
The shooting wounded three people, including Trump, and killed his local father and former fire chief Corey Comperatore.
White House press chief Caroline Leavitt recalls the tragic death in Comperator’s comments on Fox Digital, stressing that the president will “never forget Corey and his beautiful family.”

“A year ago, in Butler, Pennsylvania, we tragically lost American hero Corey Comperatore. “President Trump will never forget Corey and his beautiful family. On that dark day, God spawned President Trump’s life in a miraculous millimeter. Now, President Trump is standing stronger than ever, as he continues to “fight, fight, fight” for the Americans. ”
Comperator’s widow Helen spoke to Fox News in an emotional interview about her husband’s death in early July, demanding accountability from the Secret Service on how gunmen fire shots without intervention.
“We were all sitting that day,” Helen Comperatore told Fox News. “Our blood is in their hands. I’m angry. I’ve lost the love of my life. They’ve been ruined.”
Aftermath of Trump’s attempt to assassinate, the reaction from the inside revealed in a new book
“Why Butler? Why did they fail so much? Why didn’t they pay attention? Why did they think the roof wasn’t covered?” she asked. “I want to sit down and talk to them. I have the right. They need to listen to me.”
McCormick recalled Comperatore as a heroic father and husband who died to protect his family.
“My Pennsylvanian, volunteer firefighter and father, Corey Comperatore, sat behind me. He died protecting his family. I remember Corey to celebrate this one year anniversary and pray for the Comperatore family,” the Republican senator said.
Longtime political reporter Salena Zito published a book detailing her recollections of the day in July, and in an interview with Fox Digital earlier this month, she said she rejected the duck for cover when the gunshot rang.

“I didn’t get off,” Zito said in an interview ahead of the book’s release on Tuesday. “There was this inner voice saying, ‘You have work to do and you’re continuing to do it.’ ”
Zito was located in the stage and the secure permitter of the Secret Service when gunmen fired on Trump and the crowd.
“There are these layers in time,” Zito added while reflecting the 2024 event. “It doesn’t remember them. It’s going through them. It’s this interesting thing that happens. I see a sea of navy blue suits surround him right away. And I hear the second four shot. I haven’t descended yet.”
Trump tells the fox Noticias “want to hear” the explanation behind the assassination attempt
McCormick told Fox Digital that recent politically motivated attacks, including targeted attacks and murders by Minnesota lawmakers, should be replaced with courtesy that protects democracy.
“From attempts on President Trump’s life to arson in the Pennsylvania governor’s residence, to the murder of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, these politically motivated attacks are attacks on democracy itself. Regardless of the party, we must choose to speak up as a memorial to political opposition. In an attempt to assassinate, Trump quickly left the rally and was seen by a doctor. Just a day later, on June 14, 2024, the Republican National Convention was scheduled to kick off in Milwaukee, initially worried about concerns that Trump might not be able to attend the convention due to injuries.

However, the president made his public return that week in Milwaukee while wearing bandages on his ears. Trump officially accepted the party’s nomination against him to serve as president, giving a 93-minute speech highlighted by how his life’s attempts changed him.

“There was blood everywhere, but even so, I felt very safe because God was by my side,” Trump told a crowd of supporters on the last night of the RNC. “The surprising thing is that if you hadn’t moved your head in the last moment before the shot, the assassin bullet would have been hitting that mark completely. You wouldn’t be with you tonight.”
