Disneyland is 70 years old and has a year of magic and memories
Southern California’s summer festival will include the opening of Walt Disney – Magical Life, a show featuring the realistic animatronic of the founder of the company that debuted on Thursday and marks Disneyland’s official anniversary.
Walt Disney’s vision of creating a vacation for families revolutionized the amusement park industry with immersive attractions featuring robot figures and holographics, as well as immersive attractions featuring shows and characters that appeal to children.
The park, which focuses on storytelling and attention to detail, is still evident today in theme parks around the world.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger will share some opening remarks with guests at the entrance to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California on July 17, 2025. On July 17, 2025, guests can experience the breakthrough attraction “Walt Disney – Magical Life” and the debut of the charm of “It’s a Little World” with a limited time available at the Disneyland Resort 70th celebration. Disneyland is now ranked as the world’s second most visited theme park, approaching the Magic Kingdom of Disney World in Florida, which opened in 1971. According to the themed Entertainment Association, Disneyland pulled over 17 million people in 2023, bounced back from the 13-month closure of the Covid-19 Pandaliaceae family.
The park was built on an orange grove in Anaheim just outside Los Angeles. It opened on July 17th, 1955. This saw Ray Croc launch the first McDonald’s restaurant and Jim Henson introduces the original version of Kermit the Frog.
Disneyland’s first day was a famous disaster, all aired on live television specials. The park opened in a groundbreaking year and was not ready for that big day.
The attraction broke down, the toilets were not adequate, food and drinks were lacking, traffic retreated for miles, and the first guest’s shoes were sunk into freshly paved asphalt.
Among the original rides today are Mud Tea Party, Peter Pan flights and Jungle Cruises.
The cost to reach that first year was $1 for adults and 50 cents for children, but tickets for most rides cost an additional 10-50 cents.
Today, a day ticket starts at over $100 and can double that on one day.
For many years, the park has hosted the US president, kings and queens, and countless celebrities. Some started at Disneyland. Actor Kevin Costner was a skipper on Jungle Cruises, and comedian Steve Martin worked at the Magic Shop.
Walt Disney Co. has six resorts with 12 theme parks around the world. The park has become one of the most successful and important business segments.
The Anaheim resorts currently include Downtown Disney, the Disney California Adventure and Shopping and Entertainment District.
Disneyland still employs many touches that oversee Walt Disney, but the original park is constantly evolving, and sometimes the disappointment of its loyal fans.
Some movements created to keep up with a changing society are created to introduce more thrilling attractions with the latest technology to keep up with competitors. Last year, Disney received approval to expand its Southern California theme park. New parking and transport hubs are the first step in planning to open up more space for new attractions.
