According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews quickly defeated a two-storey structure fire in Jefferson Park on Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded around 9am and found an abandoned or vacant charter school at 2255 West Adams Boulevard.
LAFD quickly went into attack mode, and footage from scenes in the Citizen app showed that the crew was rapidly moving towards fighting the flames. Large smoke of smoke was seen from nearby neighborhoods and highways.

About 30 minutes later, a total of 72 firefighters extinguished the flames. This came mainly from the second floor of the school. Authorities did not immediately know the school’s name.
According to the property list, the building was run as a private school, and probably taught grades between kindergarten and eighth grade. According to real estate companies Marcus and Millichap, it has been reported that the company has been vacant as of July 1, 2025.
No injuries have been reported and the LAFD said crews left unknown time due to overhaul procedures and there is no chance that the flames will reignite.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
