According to a White House spokesman, 330 immigrants have been detained in Southern California since Friday, a White House spokesman said

WASHINGTON – Immigration agents have arrested 330 immigrants in the surrounding areas of Los Angeles and Southern California since Friday, the White House confirmed Wednesday.

The numbers came from White House press chief Caroline Leavitt. He also denounced Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who said President Trump “incited the flames” of Los Angeles violence.

The “responsible areas” of the US Immigration Customs’ Los Angeles Field office are rising up to the Los Angeles metropolitan area and the Central Coast, Orange County in the south, Riverside County in the east and San Luis Obispo County.

During a press conference, Leavitt said 157 people had been arrested for charges related to assault and obstruction. That includes a man charged Wednesday with attempted murder of a police officer for throwing a Molotov cocktail. Overall, Leavitt said 113, or about a third of those detained, had been previously criminally convicted.

The White House and the Department of Homeland Security have promoted the arrests of Filipinos who had previously been convicted of crimes in Vietnam, Mexico and the Philippines.

Leavitt denounced the protests in Los Angeles against the attacks committed by immigration and customs enforcement.

“These attacks were aimed at American culture and society itself, not just law enforcement,” she said. “The rioters burned American flags, chanted death for the ice, and sprayed anti-American slogans on the buildings.”

As reflected the sentiment Trump broadcast, Levitt criticized Newsom and Bass, branding them as radical Democrats.

Bass said that “it embarked on one of the most outrageous campaigns the country has ever seen from elected officials, blaming President Trump and the brave law enforcement officials for violence.”

“The violence of the mob is being trampled,” she said. “The people in charge will be brought to trial quickly, and the Trump administration’s operation to arrest illegal foreigners continues unabated.”

But Trump’s top border policy advisor Tom Homan told NBC on Tuesday that protests in Los Angeles have made immigration enforcement “difficult” and “dangerous.”

Leavitt issued harsh warnings to protesters in other cities.

“Let’s make this a clear message to left-wing extremists in other parts of the country who are thinking of mimicking violence to stop this administration’s deportation effort. You will not succeed,” she said.
