As far as year-end lists go, we’re always on the lookout for rankings that remind us of our own trends over the past 12 months.
Case in point: Spotify Wrapped is a marketing campaign released annually since 2016 that summarizes users’ annual listening habits on the music streaming platform and also allows them to share their personal rankings via social media. It’s always fun to post about the songs and artists you listen to the most, but it’s also exciting to be able to compare your music tastes to the music tastes of an entire city.
To that end, Spotify also publishes a list of the most listened to tracks across cities throughout the year.
This year, LA’s rankings are dominated by Jimin’s “Like Crazy,” clear proof that K-pop is here to stay. “Not Like Us” by local favorite Kendrick Lamar (who will be playing at SoFi Stadium with SZA next year) ranked second, followed by “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter. (In fact, Angelenos love Carpenter; the artist’s pop-up cafe arrived in Los Angeles last month to coincide with her tour dates.)
Without further ado, here are the five most listened to songs in Los Angeles in 2024, according to Spotify (including another LA resident, Billie Eilish).
1. Jimin’s “Like Crazy”
2. “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
3. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”
4. “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish
5. “Good Luck, Babe!” Written by Chapel Lawn
