As the old saying goes, there are many fish in the ocean. Unfortunately, there are far fewer exceptional chefs who can cook for dinner.
Knowing this, Yelp analysts are trying to identify top-notch seafood restaurants in each state. Using an extensive database of user-generated reviews, Yelp analysts first focused on restaurants with a “large concentration” of reviews that mentioned “seafood,” and then ranked those businesses in the quality and quantity of user ratings.
The top-rated restaurants in each state were then compiled into Yelp’s 2025 “Best Seafood in All States.”
“And the best part? You don’t have to live near the ocean to pack fish!” Yelp claims.

Have you found your favorite on the list? That doesn’t necessarily mean it serves thin seafood. Yelp analysts mean that not only the quality of user-generated reviews, but also the “total amount” (new restaurants), or perhaps restaurants that are off the beaten path, can be underestimated.

Yelp also focused its analysis on highly concentrated restaurants with the word “seafood.” This may not necessarily take into account reviews that may focus on restaurant specialties, such as chowder and lobster, if you don’t even mention the term “seafood.”
