Exclusive: Todd Lyon, acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said that if his agency refuses to cooperate with his agents, they would “increase” raids in the sanctuary city.

Todd Lyons said that the Trump administration’s U.S. deporting to the agenda of deportation and various other issues, and that ice agents are trying to chase criminally illegal immigrants regardless of sanctuary policy.

“The more they double down or triple down, the more we’re going to ramp up it,” he told Fox News. “We want to work with you, but if you don’t want to work with the federal government, if you don’t want to work with ice, we make sure you’re doing everything you can to bring law enforcement resources into that jurisdiction.

“If you don’t want to work with us, we’re going to handle the issue,” he added.

However, the Lions praised California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Sanctuary, California, generally does not cooperate with immigration authorities, but Newsom said it is willing to work with the agency to respect the demands of detainees. It followed anger over a Fox news article about an illegal immigrant convicted of manslaughter in a vehicle being released from prison on July 19.

“I really admire the governor for that,” Lions said. “When people saw exactly the individuals that ice was handling, why couldn’t they work with ice in such cases?

“We actually saw the details behind this case,” he added. “This is a common sense approach to working with ice to get these public safety threats out of here.”

In the first 100 days of the Trump administration, ICE arrested more than 6,000 illegal immigrants, the agency said this week. The agency “continues to remove the worst and worst,” the Lions said.

“When you deport violent gang members, sex offenders, and fentanyl traffickers, everyone can argue with you,” he said. “Ice protects our communities, keeps these public safety threats away from our neighborhoods and protects our children.”

The Lions said the additional money would be a “game changer” as Congress has the ability to fund the ice to 10,000 agents.

“I give you an example. When I conducted an operation in Boston, we targeted enforcement when we learned from the court that these criminal aliens were released from prison, from the sanctuary jurisdiction that the detainees didn’t respect,” he said. “But more criminal aliens were released in real time while the team was doing this business.”
