Additional fire resources are being deployed in Los Angeles County this weekend in response to the dangerous fire weather crisis state officials announced Saturday.
“The Department of Emergency Services (@CAL_OES) has approved the Los Angeles County fire resources assumptions in response to red flag warnings and dangerous fire weather conditions that are projected to affect Southern California by Sunday, June 22, 2025.”
“This aggressive approach has proven to be a key component of California’s wildfire response strategy, reducing response times and limiting fires before escalating to large-scale incidents. These efforts will allow both the ground and the atmosphere to respond quickly and minimise the potential impact of new fires,” the statement continued.
The Red Flag warning was effective in areas including five interstate corridors and Antelope Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said gusts of wind could be 65 miles higher overnight.
