(Nexstar) – Target has confirmed that a price guarantee program that can “fit” or “fit” target items determined to be cheaper on Amazon or Walmart will only apply to prices determined to be cheaper on Target stores or Target.com.
The program will be able to match prices between Walmart and Amazon until July 28th, when target representatives are confirmed.
According to Target’s website, Target has launched a program to provide customers with peace of mind and “satisfaction with paying the right price without sacrificing experience.” However, the company said its customers were “overwhelmingly” using price match guarantees on Target or Target.com (i.e., if the online price is lower than the in-store price, or vice versa, or redeemed the low price within 14 days of purchase.

“We found that guests, rather than other retailers, have overwhelmingly matched targets that match prices. This reflects the great value and confidence in prices that consumers see across our assortment and transactions,” the company wrote in a statement shared with Nexstar.
Target’s policy will be priced within a 14-day window from July 28th.
“We are always trying to provide consumers with outstanding value and give them confidence to choose their targets. Everyday low prices, affordable and quality-focused brands, incredible deals, free combined membership programs, target circles and more.”
Target was the only retailer of three (Target, Walmart, Amazon) that continued to provide a price-paying policy for items found at rival retailers. Walmart’s current policy does not allow you to match prices to competitors. Amazon cannot match prices. Its prices claim to be “continuously” valued to remain competitive.
