Alaska Airlines and its regional subsidiary Horizon Air requested ground stops for all flights Sunday night due to the computer system outage.
A request to federal authorities left the Alaska-horizon flight into the air until the FAA said the stop was lifted after 2am. Monday.
In a previous statement, Alaska said the outage includes information technology networks, which “impacts our business.”
“We are experiencing problems with IT systems. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we are working to resolve the problem,” read the message on the airline’s website.
Even if the issue is resolved, it could have lasting effects and cause delays in the airline’s schedule until Monday.
“There will be residual effects on our surgery throughout the evening,” Alaska said in a previous statement.
Alaska and Horizon ticket holders were asked to check the flight status before arriving at the starting point.
A year ago, the cybersecurity company Cloud Strike’s sensor configuration was updated to a widely used platform, causing a system crash that affects airlines, medical facilities, businesses and police around the world, showing Microsoft computers a “blue screen of death.”
The exact cause of the Alaska outage on Sunday was not immediately clear.
