Alaska Airlines has resumed operations following a private technical error affecting the entire system for about three hours, the company announced.
“It led to an IT outage that led to a temporary system-wide ground halt for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Airlines flights. The Seattle-based company said in a social media post that the suspension was lifted at 11pm.
“Relocating the aircraft and crew is likely to have a residual impact on the flight. It will take some time to return the overall operation to normal,” Post said.
The Federal Aviation Administration website has confirmed ground stops for all Alaska Airlines mainline and Horizon Airlines aircraft, referring to its Alaska Airlines subsidiary.
The National Transportation Commission last month praised the crew of Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 for the passenger’s survival, leaving a hole in the cabin for sucking things when the door plug panel flew off the plane shortly after takeoff on January 5, 2024.
In September, Alaska Airlines said it temporarily grounded its flight in Seattle due to “significant disruption” from an unspecified technical issue resolved within hours.
