Alaska faced more energy restrictions than Iran, which combined North Korea: Wright

SHIMI VALLY, Calif. — Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the Biden administration “strangled” Alaska with red tape and more restrictions imposed on North Korea, Iran and Venezuela.

“Alaska had more sanctions, more restrictions on oil and gas production in Alaska than everything they did to Iran, Venezuela and North Korea if they combined. The last administration was just strangled by Alaska.

Wright joined the Reagan National Economic Forum at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Friday, celebrating President Donald Trump’s executive order, “Unleashing America’s Energy,” and how he tackles regulations that have hindered the growth of coal and nuclear energy in recent history. Maria Bartiromo from Fox News moderated the energy-centric panel.

He pointed out the Gulf of America and Alaska to two important areas for American energy growth, particularly the last frontier nation.

“Alaska was this incredible resource. It was booming and then strangled. The idea is to export oil from the northern slopes of Alaska, come from the pipeline to South Alaska and then export it,” he said. “We want to build a pipeline from the northern slopes of Alaska. This brings not only oil but natural gas. And oil, the natural gas export terminal on the southern coast of Alaska can sail to Tokyo or Taiwan or South Korea in six days. East Asian allies.”

Wright added that the US Gulf is a key region of the country for building large export terminals and that American energy can be exported to foreign countries.

“Today’s export terminals are almost entirely on the US Gulf, the Texas and the Louisiana coast, and they are there because they can build things there. Natural gas comes from Pennsylvania, Ohio, or North Dakota or Texas or Oklahoma.

Trump launches a “decisive counter strike” with DEM.

Wright added that America is recently the world’s largest oil importer, but has since become the largest exporter.

“We were the world’s largest oil importer and the world’s largest natural gas importer. Today we are the largest natural gas exporter and the net oil exporter,” he continued.

“Who is the world’s largest oil importer and the world’s largest natural gas importer? China has the advantages of an incredible energy system. But it must be used not only to our country’s interests, but also to bring security and strict alliances with our allies.”
