The Altadena woman, who lost the home she wanted to enjoy retirement, decided to put it on the market following Eton Fire.
Leslee Koritzke said he has no plans to rebuild the home he lost in a brush fire earlier this year. After carefully considering her options and weighing the ones that are best for her in the future, she decided to sell her property.
“Rebuilding isn’t enough,” she said after talking to the insurance company. “It might have been a few years ago, but it’s not.”
In addition to what her insurance concluded, Kolitzke said she was also considering the next chapter of her career as a professor at the Los Angeles College of Trade and Technology.
“I’m planning on retiring in a few months,” she said. “Do I really want to spend my retirement dealing with the county? No. No.”
She came to her decision with her head, not her heart, but she said it was still important for her to have her property sold to her ideal buyer.
“I really love the wealth and I hope to go to someone who wants to regain that sense of community again,” she said.
All offers Koritzke has received so far come from the people of Altadena, she said.
“I hope they make it a great space,” Koritzke said. “And maybe I’ll drive five years later and see what they did.”
