rape survivor nguyễn shared a heartfelt message after the capsule parachutes to a gentle touchdown in the Texas Desert.
“I have always wanted to do with all survivors and all survivors who have repeated their dreams knowing that your dreams are valid,” said Nguyễn. “And even if your dreams are as wild as going to space, they are important. And you can get there too. If I can get there, you can get there too.”
Nguyễn also posted a photo of her arm-raised moments after becoming the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman in space, before she left the capture.
Nguyễn is the founder of Rise, a nonprofit organization that advocates victims of sexual assault. She is a survivor of sexual assault and describes herself as a pathological optimist.
Research scientists at Bioastronautics have drafted the Sexual Assault Survivors Rights Act, a bill passed unanimously in the US Congress. Nguyễn was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for her work to pass the law.
Her classmates at Centennial High School in Corona voted that she was most likely to become president. Nguyễn graduated from Harvard University in 2013 and was named Time Woman of the Year in 2022.

After lifting off from Blue Origin Base in Texas, she moved to the edge of space during a flight that lasted about 10 minutes, taking the woman to an altitude of about 62 miles.
The mission was the 11th human spaceflight in a Washington state-based company founded by Bezos in 2000. Bezos was part of Blue Origin’s first space tourist flight in 2021, bringing the latest crew to the pad.
Most of Blue Origin’s 50 passengers are part of the business or science world, television hosts and YouTubers. The price of the space flight ticket has not been revealed.
All other female crew members in 64 years of human spaceflight were in 1963, when Soviet astronaut Valentina Teleskova was founded by herself. She was the first woman in the universe and spent three days from Earth.
