A police chase ended in a fiery crash in downtown Long Beach early Monday morning, and an investigation into a possible second crash is underway.
Video taken by Sky5 shows the aftermath of one of the crashes, which occurred around 5 a.m. near Pacific Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.
According to KTLA 5’s Rich Prickett from Sky 5, the chase is believed to have started with a robbery at a marijuana dispensary.

As officers investigated, a wrecked black sedan was seen sitting in the middle of the intersection. Two other damaged vehicles were seen nearby, including the overturned vehicle.

The area will remain closed as the investigation into the pursuit and crash continues.

Rich said another accident was reported at Pacific Coast Highway and Rose Avenue where a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant.
The site of the second crash is just less than three miles away from the first crash site.

At the scene, police could be seen carrying large items into the car as water gushed out from under the car, where the fire hydrant had been cut off.

“I see Long Beach police here carrying a lot of bags that appear to be products from that pharmacy,” Rich observed. “This is probably one of the two early crashes.” [Monday morning] Located in the Long Beach area [that were connected to the pursuit]”
At the time of publication, it is unclear which crash occurred first.
