Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver leaving an elderly man seriously injured in Los Angeles’ El Sereno area.
The Los Angeles Police Department said Thursday that it happened on Jan. 3 near Rosemead Avenue and Huntington Drive around 1:20am on Jan. 3.
The victim was identified only as a man in the 70s and was crossing the streets of Rosemead Avenue using a marked crosswalk.
That’s when a small, brightly colored sedan strode east along Huntington Drive attacks the man. The driver rushed without checking the injured pedestrian.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and took him to a local hospital where he was seriously injured.
“The driver will remember that if he is involved in a collision, he will be forced to immediately stop and notify emergency services and remain on the scene to identify himself,” LAPD said. “I remember that as pedestrians, the public should be careful when crossing the street, following traffic lights, crossing prominent crossings, and following road rules.”
No details, including photos or surveillance video, were provided by police.
Anyone who provides the identity of the suspect and information that leads to an arrest can use a reward of up to $25,000.
Anyone with information about the crash will be asked to call Officer Herrera in the Central Transportation Department of LAPD at 213-833-3713. The public can also call LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
