The Santa Ana man has been sentenced to abuse the young sons of a family friend over 14 years, officials said.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office said 58-year-old Alex Mauricio Padilla Bertran was sentenced to a life sentence of 293 years on Friday.
Bertran acquired seven boys between 6 and 13 years old and was sexually assaulted, according to the DA’s office.
“In one of the incidents, Bertran locked the bedroom door and while holding down the six-year-old boy and mate the child verbally,” the DA’s office said in the release.
In addition to these local accusations, officials relate to a 2009 Las Vegas incident involving the sons of contractors who previously hired to renovate his home. He said he was guilty of felony enforcement and misdemeanor conspiracy to commit a crime.
According to the DA, Bertrand groped and kissed his 12-year-old son, giving him $10 and told him not to tell his parents.
According to the DA’s office, the boy told his parents about the abuse, regardless of the bribe, after his mother realized he was “behaving strangely.”
The boy’s 10-year-old brother then told his parents that Bertrand had taken him to the back room and groped him.
The DA’s office said Bertran was sentenced to probation by a Nevada judge and ordered to stay away from minor children.

The DA’s office said Bertran was convicted in November 2024 on 16 felony charges of indecent and skeletal busty acts with minors under the age of 14. A felony of under 10 and one forced pervert affects children under 14 years old.
