Thousands of participants gathered outside Dodger Stadium on Saturday morning for the LA 5K race.
The race began live on the morning news of the KTLA 5th weekend, with Wendy Burch stationed at the starting line just after 8am to catch the start of the race and of course armed with KTLA cowbells.
She interviewed both runners and spectators who support their nearness and precious causes, such as Cedars Sinai and the Catholic Education Foundation.
“We have about 130 runners running for our foundation today,” one woman representing the Crowd Catholic Education Foundation said before being suspended before the start of the race.

One woman Wendy Burch knew was running for her birthday. Shortly after she ran, another Wendy friend stopped by to give her a hug.

Then about two minutes after 5K first began, Wendy threw the microphone to KTLA photojournalist Armando Moncayo and began running.
For those wondering, the 5K race is 3.1 miles long.
LA 5K is part of the weekend festivities of the 40th Los Angeles Marathon and will air on KTLA 5 from 6am on Sunday.
Elite Fields Set for the 2025 Los Angeles Marathon
Roads will be closed from 4am along the marathon route. This includes surface streets and ramps along the highways at Sunset, Hollywood, Santa Monica Boulevard and 101 and 405.
Viewers can also head to KTLA+ to stream the marathon. KTLA+ is available on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, YouTube TV, and Samsung Smart TVS.
