Come with Gundam and Sailor Moon costumes as the 2025 Anime Expo started at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Thursday.
North America’s largest anime expo is expected to welcome over 100,000 fans and industry members to celebrate Japanese pop culture, including Japanese entertainment, music, fashion and video games.
The event runs daily from 10am to Sunday, with promising 1,000 hours of programming, including panels with special guests, Q&A sessions, cosplay contests and photo opportunities.
“I’ll just walk around, see what’s new, what’s coming soon, meet other cosplayers,” said Andrew Aquino, dressed as a heldy bar.
Myvy Ngo also cosplayed as Tegan in “Demon Slayer” and spent a lot of time and effort in playing the role.
“I have a headpiece I ordered from Etsy. I have a one-piece dress with a belt and a chain in the wig ad,” explained Ngo.
Cosplay gatherings are some of the most popular programs during the event as fans meet and take photos together with others in the fandom community.
The exhibition hall will serve as an official market for goods, collectibles and electronics, but visitors will be able to see the announcement of new anime series, movies and games first, organizers said.
Participants are encouraged to plan ahead by prioritizing panels, guests and events of interest.
Each visitor is required to purchase a 1-day pass or a 4-day pass badge. Individual tickets may be required for special events such as concerts and masquerades.
And, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, there are long lines for popular panels and events, so organizers urged people to arrive early.
