Former Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigoza has hit many deals at city hall, but his latest score is personal. In a divorce settlement that ended his seven-year marriage, Villaraigosa secured a home with Volvo in Beverly Hills and maintained a Netflix account.
The terms of the 72-year-old Villaraigosa’s divorce settlement with 52-year-old Patricia Villaraigosa was finalised earlier this week in LA County Superior Court.
As part of the settlement, Villaraigosa agreed to pay $500,000 and $100,000 if he soon became his wife, in lieu of “counsel and forensic accounting costs and expenses,” according to court records.
The two also agreed to drop Villaraigosa’s last name, return to her maiden name Govea, and update information with automobiles and other state and federal agencies. As part of the settlement, she agreed not to use the name Villaraigosa for social, marketing or business purposes, according to court documents.
The terms of the settlement agreement were first reported by Touch Weekly.
The settlement was filed in court on Monday, allowing Patricia Villaraigoza to maintain two properties in Mexico and the 2016 Range Rover.
Antonio Villaraigosa maintains all streaming services including the 2024 Volvo XC60, his surname, bank account, his pension, Beverly Hills home and Netflix account.
A Villaraigosa spokesman did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the divorce agreement.
The settlement comes after Villaraigosa announced that he is scheduled to run for governor of California next year and marks a second attempt to lead the Golden State. When he left city hall in 2013, Villaraigosa said, “I don’t have a job, no house, no car.”
