Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., has blown up the Trump administration over issues from freedom of speech at the town hall in Jackson Heights, Friday night, Queens, on Doge spending cuts and immigration. At one point, the four-term lawmaker called out Tom Homan of the border area by name, challenged him to “come for me.”
After speaking at a May Day protest in New York City on Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez continued his message in New York’s 14th Congressional District on Friday night, rejecting Trump’s agenda and warning Republicans that he “following Medicaid next.”
After May Day protests in New York City, the town hall, a component of Ocasio-Cortez, has clearly maintained a progressive bend, but focused on local and national concerns. Still, President Donald Trump and his aggressive border security push remained a key focus.
In particular, Ocasio-Cortez attacked the Trump administration’s approach to border security and immigration, known as “licensed lures” of Venezuelan gang members.

“I don’t even want to call them deportation. They are tempted in many situations,” the lawmaker told attendees. “They don’t have a carte blanche to enter. If they want to knock on your door or knock on someone’s door, including the workplace, then “Show me the warrant. Show me the warrant.” And if they don’t show you the warrant, you can say they can come back with the warrant.
Trump’s border emperor Tom Homan said Ocasio-Cortez should be investigated to provide tips on how to avoid federal immigration authorities. On Friday, she mentioned Homan after lawmakers did that again.
“When we first did one of these seminars, Tom Homan, the director of ice at the time, said he would threaten to refer him to the DOJ because he uses my right to free speech to advise people of constitutionally guaranteed protections,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And he might want to do it again today. And I’ll come for me.”

Ocasio-Cortez also denounced the Trump administration for “an attack on free speech” and reduced government spending on programs lawmakers consider “essential.”
“Everything that has to do with the environment is bad and needs to be cut. I don’t even think that I don’t understand the extent to which this compromises and hurts people,” Ocasio-Cortez told participants. “They don’t think climate change is real.”

The event was mostly peaceful, except for early confusion by protesters who began screaming at Ocasio-Cortez about Gaza’s “genocide.”
“I am a healthcare worker and I want to know what you’re doing about Gaza’s genocide,” protesters began screaming at lawmakers.
“Shame! Shame! Shame!” The audience began screaming at the destroyer. I was able to hear the “boo” that I could hear.

Ocasio-Cortez tried to soothe the destroyer, but she had nothing to calm people down. The event staff allowed Disruptor to continue screaming until he approached Ocasio-Cortez, and ultimately led her.
“I’m embarrassed. You’re a liar. You’re a liar,” cried the woman. “
I’m embarrassed, I was supporting you,” the woman cried out as she left. “You’re a war criminal! War criminal! War criminal! “
Despite the unfavourable opinions of protesters against Ocasio-Cortez, others have hopes about her potential candidacy for the 2028 presidency.
