Huntington Beach police said an armed man was arrested on Saturday during the “King” protests in Huntington Beach.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, 25-year-old Eduardo Pineda is accused of threatening to “knock someone out” in the middle of the street. Details of what led to the conflict were not available.
The department said officers witnessed the conflict near the Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway areas around 3:30pm. After approaching Pineda, officers learned that he had an aggressive warrant for arrest in connection with previous charges, including vandalism and battery. While searching for him during his arrest, police found a handgun loaded into his waistband, they said.
Pineda has been arrested and is currently facing charges involving a felon in possession of a firearm loaded with luggage, challenging others in a fight with public and unsolved warrants. It is unclear whether there is a lawyer who can speak on his behalf.
Tens of thousands of people from across the country gathered on Saturday as part of a systematic movement called the “No Kings” protest aimed at opposing President Donald Trump and his policies.
