The Senate confirmed another candidate for President Donald Trump on Tuesday. This time, he called for a position to maintain the veteran’s cemetery and oversee the burial.
Army veteran and former Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sam Brown has been confirmed by the Senate to be Trump’s undersecretary of Veterans for Commemorative Affairs. The 54-44 vote was a largely partisan event, with the exception of Nevada’s democratic sense of affairs, both Katherine Cortez Mast and Jackie Rosen crossed the aisle to vote for Brown’s confirmation.

The Secretary of Memorial Affairs oversees the national cemetery administration, which operates and maintains more than 150 national cemeteries. According to the VA, national cemeteries across the country have around 4 million veterans buried on their basis.
And the National Cemetery Bureau offers more than 100,000 military veterans and eligible families each year.
Trump nominated Brown, who served in the military for five years before retiring medically after a roadside improvised explosive device exploded a third of his body in January, praised him as an “American hero” in a true social post on his social media platform.

“He led the army in the battle in Afghanistan, while boldly proved his love for our country in the Army, helping veterans access to emergency medicines after his honorable retirement as captain,” Trump said.
Brown’s confirmation marked the third of the day in the Senate. There, a growing list of Trump candidates for various agencies, judges and ambassadors, slowed down by Senate Democrats.
Senate Republican leaders are running through the Democratic lockdown and are working to launch contracts to move more candidates faster.

Sen. Jerry Moran, a Kansas Republican, will speak at a ceremony on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, when he presented the statue of Amelia Earhart in the Statue Hall at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Senate Republicans insisted that Brown’s position in particular should not be influenced by the partisanship displayed in Democrats’ attempts to slow the walks of other, more controversial candidates.
Sen. Jerry Moran, chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, requested earlier this year to confirm Brown through a much faster process known as unanimous consent, opposed by Senate Democrats in May.

“It’s not a Republican or Democrat’s issue to give veterans a break with honor and serve their families with dignity,” the Kansas Republican said in a statement at the time. “We are not discouraged from being unable to work in a bipartisan way to confirm the qualified and capable leaders of this national cemetery administration. That position is responsible for carrying out the strictest responsibility of our country and filling up our veterans.”
