An arson suspect was arrested Thursday night near the Kenneth Fire area as firefighters continued to battle blazes near homes in Calabasas and West Hills.
Around 4:30 p.m., Los Angeles police responded to a report of a man attempting to start a fire in the 21700 block of Ybarra Road in Woodland Hills.

Residents who found the suspect detained him until police arrived. Photos of the arrest shared on the Citizen app show police surrounding the home where the male suspect was arrested.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the man was responsible for the wildfire or had any connection. His identity has not been released.
The Kenneth Fire was first reported around 2:30 p.m. in an area of dry brush in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space just north of Highway 101. By 6 p.m., the fire had grown to 960 acres and could not be contained.
Sky5 footage showed helicopters dropping retardant around the fire and fixed-wing aircraft dropping water to protect homes.
An arson investigation is underway, but further information about the suspect has not been released.
Crews across Southern California are working to extinguish several devastating wildfires as the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades and Malibu and the Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena continue to grow.
