As president prepares to leave office, Republican lawmakers step up Biden administration lawsuits

With less than two weeks left in President Biden’s term, Utah Attorney General Sean D. Reyes and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, both Republicans, are fighting Biden over new energy-efficient housing standards. He has not given up on the idea of taking the government to court. It hurts affordable housing and goes beyond what federal law allows.

This is not the only lawsuit or complaint filed late in the waning days of the Biden presidency; it is the 103rd lawsuit Paxton has filed challenging a Democratic administration.

“I mean, I don’t know if anyone comes close to that, but it prevents him from becoming more like a king or a dictator than an elected executive responsible for enforcing laws rather than making them.” He’s kept us busy because we needed to,” Paxton said in an interview on FOX News Digital.

Paxton said he plans to file “another” lawsuit, but it may not be ready in time.

In addition to Utah and Texas, states participating in the lawsuit with the National Association of Home Builders include Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Montana. The states are Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia. The coalition argues that the administration’s energy standards are not only burdensome, but also exceed the powers given to it by Congress.

Biden moves to ban oil and gas leasing in Nevada for 20 years, weeks before Trump takes office

“Even as our nation prepares to transition to a new administration, the outgoing HUD and USDA offices are already struggling to pay bills, feed families, and ensure a bright future for our citizens.” They are committed to imposing unnecessary and unnecessary costs on the lives of Americans living with their children.” Reyes said in a statement.

The Biden administration claims these rules will make homes more energy efficient and save money. But critics say the rules increase upfront costs and limit buyers’ options.

The lawsuit also questions whether the government had the legal authority to enforce these rules. Attorneys general say the administration relies on private groups like the International Council on the Code of Law to set standards that go beyond the original intent of the law.

Biden’s renewable energy policy has been a topic of debate among energy commentators for the past four years. Biden also signed an executive order on Monday banning new drilling and further oil and gas development in more than 625 million acres of U.S. coastal and offshore waters.

President Trump’s press secretary immediately condemned the order against X.

“This is a shameful decision aimed at political revenge against the American people for giving President Trump the power to expand drilling and lower gas prices. Rest assured, Joe Biden will not fail. “Sho, and we dig, baby, we dig.” With X.

Over the past four years, more than a dozen Republican lawmakers have been alarmed by the Biden administration and issued notices about some of its policies. In November, Iowa Republican Attorney General Brenna Byrd, along with more than 20 other attorneys general, joined Special Counsel Jack Smith, New York State Attorney General Letitia James, and Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis. He sent a letter requesting that the court’s judgment be set aside. It filed a lawsuit against President-elect Trump to avoid the risk of a “constitutional crisis.”

Paxton also filed a lawsuit against Biden-Harris’ Justice Department in November to prevent the possible destruction of records from Smith’s “fraudulent investigation into President Donald Trump,” according to his office. filed a lawsuit.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
