A total of seven are still in the hospital after the men plowed their minivans into a crowd of crowds celebrating at Liverpool FC’s Championship Parade on Monday.

Merseyside Police confirmed the information in a public update issued Wednesday at 2pm local time.

“As part of an ongoing investigation, we were able to identify more people who were injured.

Each of the seven people remaining in the hospital is in stable condition, according to a social media post from Merseyside police.

The unnamed 53-year-old man is from Liverpool’s West Derby area, law enforcement officials say. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving crimes and ineligible driving through drugs.

He is in police custody. The motivation for the crash has not been established, but police say the driver is acting alone and the incident is not believed to be terrorism.

In an update Wednesday, Merseyside Police Detective Director Rachel Wilson said the number of people at the hospital has fallen in the days following the incident on Water Street in downtown Liverpool.

“We continue to support people who are still undergoing treatment and as part of an ongoing inquiry, we are identifying more people who have been injured,” Wilson said. “I want to reassure the Merseyside public that detectives are making great progress in order to establish a perfect situation that leads to what has happened.”

Authorities are also reviewing “extensive” CCTV footage to track the movement of the Ford Galaxy hatchback driven by the 53-year-old suspect.

The parade was being held to celebrate Liverpool FC’s Premier League title. An estimated 1 million people are said to have come out to support and watch the 10-mile procession.

Local media quoted BBC reporters who were taking part in the parade with their families, saying that the open-top bus carrying the team had recently passed through the area as the cars plowed through the crowd.

Family of a woman dying in the LA homeless camp says questions remain

This is not the first tragedy involving Liverpool FC. In 1985, the disaster at Highsel Stadium occurred when Liverpool fans surged mainly into adjacent stands with fans of Italian club Juventus before the start of the European Cup final.

A total of 39 people were killed after being crushed by a collapsed wall, and another 600 were injured in an incident that took place at a stadium in Brussels, Belgium. The disaster has been condemned for holiganism (14 Liverpool fans were found guilty of manslaughter), mistakes by staff (one police captain was found guilty of manslaughter), and structural issues at the stadium.

Four years after the tragedy of Highsel Stadium, the disaster at Hillsboro Stadium occurred in Middlesbrough, England.

The incident claimed 94 lives on the day. He passed away 95 days later, leaving the 18-year-old in sustained nutrition from the incident – died in 1993, and the 97th victim died in 2021, 32 years after suffering irreversible brain damage.
