An Oxnard man was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on a Ventura County public transport bus.
The 37-year-old woman from Ventura was on a bus from Camarillo to Ventura when she was assaulted Friday, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Miguel Angel Salgado Rodriguez, 49, of Oxnard, was identified as the suspect and found him on Sunday at a bus stop in the 2700 block of Johnson Drive, Ventura, authorities said.
“During his initial contact with Rodriguez, he delayed the investigation by refusing to stop in the direction of lawmakers,” the release said. “Rodriguez was arrested for sexually assaulting a bus, resisted and delayed the investigation. A search for Rodriguez’s person and property revealed evidence linking him to sexual assault a few days ago.”
Rodriguez faces charges of felony sexual penetration by force and misdemeanor charges of resistance, obstruction or delaying a peace officer.
He is being held in Ventura County Main Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Tuesday.
“Rodriguez may have assaulted another person on and around the bus or bus stop around Ventura County,” investigators are asked to call deputies at 805-654-9511.
Alternatively, you can text 911 to “communications with the Ventura County Dispatch Center and provide real-time information in silence,” VCSO said.
“This was not used in the above incidents, but serves as a reminder of the availability of this useful feature,” the release added.
