LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Drivers who abandoned their cars may find their cars a little worse for wear when they return, although Steve Guttenberg tried to warn them.
The “Police Academy” actor implored fellow Angelenos to leave their keys in their cars if they are going to give them up in a traffic jam near the Palisades fire. Otherwise, roads could become congested, making it difficult for firefighters to operate.
“What’s happening now is people are carrying their keys around like they’re in a parking lot. This is not a parking lot. They’re really asking people to move their cars,” he told KTLA Tuesday afternoon. I need to get it,” he said. Leave your keys there so a guy like me can move your car so the fire trucks can get there. ”

But several motorists didn’t take that advice, and authorities used a giant bulldozer to push stalled cars off Palisades Drive to the side of the road to make way for emergency vehicles.
“If this is your car, unfortunately it’s an emergency situation and this is what they have to do,” KTLA’s Gene Kang explained from the scene.
Kang also acknowledged, “Yes, as you can tell from the screeching, damage has been done.”
“But that’s what they have to do,” he added.
