Covid police warned Wednesday of the danger of leaving the child inside the car after the baby was rescued from a locked-in vehicle last week.
Police said they answered a call about the baby, who was only inside an unaccompanied vehicle, with the engine turned off and the windows rolled up.
Footage from the officer’s body decoration camera shows the baby appears to be in pain inside the back seat of the car when he breaks the side window to save him.
According to the COVID-19 Fire Station, the internal temperature of the vehicle has reached over 100 degrees.
The COVID police station warned parents not to depersonate their children.
Over the past 25 years, more than 1,000 children have died of heat stroke after being left in or trapped in a hot car, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Here are some tips to prevent the death of a hot car:
Do not put your child in the car and leave it alone for a long time. Rolling or parking shaded windows rarely changes the internal temperature of the vehicle. Make it a habit to check the entire vehicle, especially the rear seats, before locking the door and leaving. If your child does not show up for care as expected, ask your childcare provider to call. Place your personal items like wallets and briefcases in the back seat as another reminder to look before locking. Keep car keys and fobs out of reach of children and teach children that the vehicle is not a playground.
If you see a child alone in your locker car, act immediately and call 911.
