It was supposed to be a daily Senate Agriculture Committee hearing to consider USDA’s top post candidates, but one visitor turned the event into a tail-waving event.
BabyDog Justice, beloved British bulldog of Sen. Jim Justice of RW.VA., made a surprise and very photogenic appearance on Tuesday.
The hearing may have been serious business, but BabyDog’s presence brought smiles, laughter and a bit of bipartisan lightness.
Sen. John Buzman (R-ark.) joked, “Baby Dog was the difference between you on the committee or not,” Justice and his puppy settled.

Justice, who recently joined the Senate after serving as governor of West Virginia, shared exclusive comments with Fox News Digital about his Puppy Hill cameo.
“I’m so happy to see the warm acceptance of baby dogs from the people in Congress. Today, she came with me to the Agriculture Committee hearing and knew if she was involved. Justice told Fox News Digital.
At some point during the hearing, Rn.D. Comments by Senator John Haven of chuckled when he joked about the possibility that baby dogs were livestock.
After lifting the dog to the microphone and babydog shared how to “humanize us all,” Justice demanded that staff members remove the dog from their knees, adding, “She’s heavy!”
Social media was quick. Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins, confirmed earlier this year, said, “We love you! Senate AG is never the same when you’re there.”

Even the Senate Agriculture Committee’s social media accounts posted behind the scenes content of the puppy’s visit, noting that she was “monitoring surveillance policies with new friends.”
Following her eventful days at Capitol Hill, BabyDog Justice has acquired her own social media account. Posting a photo from the Senate Agriculture Committee hearing, she humorously captioned, “What is this?” Related to the microphone.
BabyDog’s charm spread beyond the committee room and attracted the attention of senators in the Congressional Hall of Fame. R-Mont. Senator Steve Daines of the film, shared a photo with babydog, “I support @babydogjustice being the 101st Senator.
R-Ala. Senator Tommy Tuberville also joined in, posting a photo of her poor babydog with the caption, “@babydogjustice is America’s favorite dog.”
Babydog is no stranger to the spotlight.
The 60-pound English Bulldog, born in 2019, has been a fitting for justice political life since it was given to him by his children. She attracted public attention during the Covid-19 pandemic when Justice launched the “do it for the baby dog” vaccine lottery to encourage West Virginians to get vaccinated.

BabyDog’s most famous public appearance took place at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. There, the attendees and the media were equally fascinated by the bulldog-sized chairs on the main stage.
BabyDog may have won the spotlight, but Justice focuses on future work as a newly appointed member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. West Virginia Republicans have long emphasized the importance of supporting rural communities and strengthening the agricultural economy. It’s an important concern about his hometown.
A former two-term governor and lifelong farmer and businessman, Justice frequently speaks about the need for practical, common sense solutions to issues such as food security, rural development and infrastructure investment. His role on the Agriculture Commission sets him up to advocate for policies that are consistent with West Virginia’s agricultural and economic interests.
