Although this isn’t Texas, Beyoncé shows her southern hospitality to LA County firefighters.
LA County Fire Force captain Sheila Kelly Belcon first met Beyoncé with the artist’s big victory at the Grammy Awards for album Cowboy Carter.
“I got a call. My friend gave my phone number to the Grammys president,” Belcon said. “They wanted it to be a fundraiser and make it special for the fire victims.”
Soon, LA County firefighters found themselves on the Grammys red carpet, and the opportunity changed into a lifetime moment of Captain Belcon.
“My chief handed her the album and we managed to release this year’s album,” Belcon said.
But for the LA County fire chief, the dream didn’t end there.
“My friend bought a ticket to see Beyoncé in Los Angeles,” Belcon said. “I just said we were going to be on the show, and Hale Mary crossed over, and I want to take some t-shirts off for Beyoncé.”
To her surprise, Beyoncé’s team replied.
“Her people said, ‘You’re not sitting there. You’re coming down ahead.’
The fire chief was also invited backstage. A moment in the “renaissance” of Belcon, from Texas.
“I was really looking forward to the Cowboy Carter album. I’m a Texas girl, I went to Texas A&M and she’s from Houston, Belcon said.
Thank you to one of the wildfire heroes in LA County from one of the world’s most popular artists. He’s now a fan forever.
“Absolutely, she couldn’t treat us kindly, and we had to take a photo after the Grammys and she’s as generous as she can.”
