The In-In-Out Burger’s expansion to Tennessee has brought a more clear focus with recent approval of the new location just north of Nashville.
Last week, the Regional Transport Commission approved two resolutions for IN-N-Out at Rivergate Mall, a shopping centre that is being renovated in Goodlettsville and Madison, according to Fox 17.
Two years ago, the beloved Southern California-based burger chain announced plans to expand to volunteer states at unspecified restaurants at the time.
“I really fell in love with the whole state,” President Linci Snyder Ellintson said at the time.
According to the Nashville Business Journal, IN-N-Out is looking at 35 possible Tennessee locations in addition to Franklin’s new regional headquarters. They are expected to start opening in 2026.
In addition to the Rivergate Mall site, other planned Tennessee locations include the Tricity area, including Lebanon, Mount Juliet, Madison, Antioch, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis, Clarksville, Cookville, Jackson, Morristown, Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport.
Tennessee marks the furthest expansion of In-N-Out to the east to date. The chain currently operates more than 400 locations in eight states: California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Idaho.
That first Washington state location is expected to open this summer.
In-N-Out Burger was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esthersnyder of Baldwin Park, California. Granddaughter Lincisnyder took over the family business in 2010.
Earlier this year, the company announced plans to move its home offices from Irvine, Orange County by 2029.
