President-elect Trump has significantly reorganized the nation’s highest court, appointing three Supreme Court justices during his first term in the White House. However, President Biden has appointed more federal judges than President Trump over the past four years.

Mr. Biden appointed 228 judges to U.S. district courts and appellate courts, including a record number of women and minority judges to district courts across the country, according to the latest data from the Federal Judicial Center. I plan to finish it.

That sum was added to Biden’s judicial nominees last month in an angry 11th-hour approval by Senate Democrats on the final day of the 118th Congress, even though they still held a slim majority in the chamber. The flood of approvals also played a role.

President Trump appointed 226 federal judges and appellate court judges during his first White House term, slightly less than Biden’s total.

Mr. Biden also nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, the first black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court.

Data compiled by the Pew Research Center shows that 60% of the judges appointed by Mr. Biden are Black, Hispanic, Asian, or part of another racial or ethnic minority group; This is the highest percentage among U.S. presidents.

Biden’s federal judge appointments bear similarities to fellow single-term Democratic president Jimmy Carter, both in diversity and scope.

Unlike Biden, Mr. Carter did not appoint anyone to the Supreme Court. But in his four years in office, he appointed more than 260 federal and appellate court judges, including a record number of women and minority judges, ensuring that the courts We helped them better reflect the populations they represent. The appointment helped reorganize the federal bench and paved the way for women and minorities to serve on the Supreme Court.

Most notably, Carter is known for appointing Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, a decision that led Democratic President Clinton to appoint her to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1993. This led to her later promotion.
