As violent cases of anti-Semitism emerged across the country this year, Fox News Digital reflected on former President Joe Biden’s preference for anti-Semitism and Islamophobia equivalents.
The former president correctly condemned hatred directed at Jews in the wake of the Israeli massacre and subsequent war in Gaza on October 7, 2023, but Biden was sure to draw almost always equal anti-Muslim sentiment.
“In recent years, too much hatred has given too much oxygen, promoted racism, the rise of anti-Semitism, and the Islamophobia in America,” Biden said it broke out in a primetime speech from the White House a few days after the war. He added:
Biden added at his October 2023 Human Rights Campaign event: “History has taught me many times and many times, so we have to reject hatred. Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, all of which connect.
The case of anti-Semitism surged to new highs last year, with the Anti-Semitism Federation (ADL) found in a new report that there were 9,354 anti-Semitism cases in 2024, up 5% from 2023 and 926% since it began tracking such data in 1979.

The war in Israel initially incited the flames of anti-Semitism on campus in the form of protests, threatening graffiti and threatening students who reported that they felt it was an “open season for Jews on our campus.” The protest was elevated to the point that Jewish students from some schools, including Columbia University, were warned to leave campus for their own safety.
Agitators and student protesters protested the war by flooding university campuses across the country last year.
For example, protesters on the Columbia University campus in New York City took over the school’s Hamilton Hall building, while schools such as UCLA, Harvard and Yale worked to clear the camps of Spiral students, which demanded that the elite schools sell out of Israel in full.

When the protest reached a fever pitch last year, Biden once again equated anti-Semitism with Islamophobia, although it was clear that Jews were a target group targeting harassment and violence.
“There should be no US location on campus for the threat of anti-Semitism or violence against Jewish students. There should be no place for hate speech or violence of any kind, whether it be anti-Semitism, Islamophobia or discrimination against Palestinian Americans.
“It’s simply wrong. There’s no place for racism in America.”
Biden faced criticism from conservatives and other critics, rather than simply condemning anti-Semitism, as American Jews faced anti-Semitism protests and cases.
Jewish students welcome Trump administrator crackdown on anti-Semitism, Hamas sympathizers on campus
“When university campuses weren’t locked up with Islamophobia, Joe Biden felt that he needed to spend a lot of time on Islamophobia and “speaking enough to illegitimately condemn discrimination and anti-Semitism against Arab Americans.

“Biden repeats both sides,” veteran James Hutton wrote last year about Biden’s previous comments. “Only Jewish students are being violated. Biden knows that, but he really wants a vote in Michigan.”
“Biden cannot simply condemn anti-Semitism. Yet another vagueness. This administration is embarrassing,” R-La. Kelly Romm, assistant communications director for speaker Mike Johnson, wrote in X last year.

This year, the Trump administration has cracked down on anti-Semitism and attacks on American Jews. American Jews were highlighted last month in a shooting in which a Jewish couple died on the streets of Washington, D.C. For the Israeli hostages, they are still in Hamas prisoners.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump signed an executive order on “additional measures to combat anti-Semitism” as his administration launched a crackdown on anti-Semitism in January. Last year, federal law enforcement officials arrested an individual allegedly linked to widespread anti-Israeli protests, but the White House threatened to allow violent anti-Israeli protests and end federal funding for universities that are investigating the immigration status of those accused of carrying out major campus protests or anti-Semitic attacks.
