President Biden delivered a two-word message to President-elect Trump at the White House on Monday.
As the soon-to-be 47th president arrived outside the White House with his wife, Melania Trump, Biden shouted “Welcome home” to Trump.
President Trump ascended the stairs to greet Biden and first lady Jill Biden. The couple posed for photos but did not respond to reporters’ barrage of questions. The Bidens and Trump turned around and entered the White House together for tea.
Asked if Trump can take credit for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Biden pauses, saying, “Are you kidding?”

After the private tea ceremony, Biden and Trump boarded a motorcade and traveled together to the Capitol for the inauguration. Trump is scheduled to be sworn in as president around noon ET.
The two-word message was delivered by Biden to Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office on Nov. 13, after the Republican Party’s decisive victory over Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. It reflected “Welcome Home.”

This welcoming tone is in stark contrast to the combative nature of the Biden-Trump debate in June, when the Democratic president’s erratic performance ultimately led to the suspension of his re-election campaign and Harris. Because he was at the top.
Just weeks later, Trump survived a July 13 assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania that sent shockwaves throughout the 2024 election cycle.

Concerns about Biden’s age and mental health led Democratic Party donors and insiders to push for Biden’s removal from the race, and Harris became the nominee without a primary. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was her running mate.
