Former President Joe Biden, who recalls his youth and witnesses quarantine first-hand, called black students “coloured children” in his first major speech since leaving the oval office.
“We lived in an apartment complex. [Biden’s mom] He only drives about half a mile to St. Rosary School in Claymont. But it was very dangerous, she didn’t let us walk,” Biden said Tuesday evening.
“There were very few black people in Scranton back then…and I was only in fourth grade, and I remember seeing kids called kids of color go by bus,” Biden added anecdotes to explain the importance of his civil rights law and why he was involved in politics.
The 46th president recalls how his family moved from Scranton, Pennsylvania to Wilmington, Delaware as a fourth-grader, and how he witnessed a quarantined school in the state where he hangs around the country.

“They never made a right turn to go to Claymont High School,” Biden said of black students who don’t attend white schools. “Why did I say to my mother? Why? In Delaware, they are not allowed to go to public schools with white children.
“And that sparked my rage as a child. 1744768390. ”
The Supreme Court effectively concluded the separation of public schools across the country with a 1954 decision by Brown v. Board of Education.

The former president joined supporters, counselors and representatives of the Disabled Persons (ACRD) Conference in Chicago on Tuesday night, where he received the “Award of Hope” for his achievements as president and addressed a gathering about the Social Security Agency, which included attacking the Trump administration for policy.
“Why are these guys trying to get social security now?” Biden asked, referring to the Trump administration. “Well, they’re following that old line from high-tech startups. The quote is, “Go fast and break things.” They certainly break things.
“As a result, there are a lot of unnecessary pain and sleepless nights.”

Biden added that the Trump administration is trying to “shift wreck” Social Security to “take it away.”

“What they always do… by running through national debt, 1. Then by taking money from elsewhere. What are the two big money in the raw numbers? Social Security and Medicaid. … Republicans, these people are pleased to bring the middle class and the working class a considerable amount of wealth to the already wealthy.
The Trump administration has cut around 7,000 Social Security staff since taking office as part of its mission to cut government fat and bureaucracy and reduce reorganization agencies under its “America First” policy. Democrats denounced President Donald Trump for cutting, claiming he would cut Social Security benefits to older people.
The White House repeatedly rejected the Trump administration’s claims to cut such profits, vowed to “constantly protect” Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits.
The Trump administration’s official Social Security X account responded before providing a detailed list of “facts” after a speech that “Biden is lying to Americans.”

The ACRD Conference was billed as the 46th President’s first public speech since leaving the White House. However, Biden has been in other official duties since January 20th, Fox Digital found other statements, including a speech at the National High School Model United Nations in March, but these events have received little media coverage.
