Former President Joe Biden took many potshots with President Donald Trump addressing the National Bar Association’s 100th Annual Gala at Hyatt, Chicago on Thursday evening, saying his successor’s administration is engaged in a “existential” battle with minority communities.
“Since the turbulent days of the 1960s, this battle has not existed who we are as a nation.
“My friends, we need to face the difficult truth of this administration, and that was to ease all the benefits we’ve done in our administration,” Biden continued. “Not making history, it’s about erasing history. To erase fairness, equality, to erase justice itself. And that’s not an exaggeration. That’s true.”
“Get ready, this is just beginning,” he added.

Biden spoke up and said, “In all our lives, in our nation’s lives, they have very harsh moments, splitting everything that came before us, from everything that has been forced to stand up to the harsh truth about ourselves, our institutions, our democracy itself.”
“We, in my view, are reflected in such moments in American history, in all the brutal executive outreach, in all the rollbacks of fundamental freedoms, in all the erosion of many established precedents,” he said.
Biden also has acquired a longtime civil rights ally, promoting the way his administration has “appointed more black women to the US court of appeals than all other presidents in American history.
He called for resistance to the Trump administration, particularly highlighting the role of the courts.
“Judges are issues, court issues, laws are issues, constitutions are important. I think a lot of Americans are beginning to realize that under pressure with this guy as president,” he said.

He also took jabs in Congress and the Supreme Court, saying, “They just sit on the sidelines and do it frequently with the help of Congress, made possible by the best courts in the country.
“It appears he’s doing his best to dismantle the constitution,” he continued. “These are dark days, but you’re all here for the same reason you left that honorable law firm to go to the Defender’s office years ago, because our future is literally on the line and we have to prevent us from fighting for the future.”
The former president’s speech was free from a massive gaffe, but he lurped his words in several ways and stumbled.
At one point in the speech, he joked. “When I was elected, I had the suspicious distinction to be elected the youngest senator in American history and the oldest president in American history.

“President Biden’s life and leadership reflects an unwavering commitment to the rule of law and a commitment to justice for all,” President Wiley Adams of the National Association of Bar Associations said in a statement.
“[I]”T is not only historic, but it also makes a great sense to have the 46th President of the United States join us in honor of the changing power of the law and the enduring fight to protect our democracy,” he said.
The former president’s speech comes two months after his son Hunter agreed to a voluntary refusal due to alleged drug use and gun law violations.

The president took the stage in the same month that his son caused waves in the public eye.
In early July, Hunter Biden participated in a marathon interview from Delaware Valley. There, he attacked many Democrats, including President Donald Trump and David Axelrod, and talked about his previous addiction to crack cocaine.
In the case that occurred in the same area where the interview was conducted, a Hunter Biden registered gun was found in garbage, a little distance from the AI DuPont School in Greenville, Dell.
Harry Biden, the widow of former Delaware Attorney General Joseph Beau Biden III and then girlfriend of Hunter Biden, discovered his boyfriend’s gun and disposed of it there.

Edward Banner, of Newport, Delaware, was sprinting through the trash can for a bottle deposit and spotting a gun. He was later called to testify in the case.
During the registration of that weapon, Hunter Biden vowed in the form of the federal government that he was not actively using controlled substances.
In June 2024, District of Columbia Judge Anna Blackburn Riggsby signed an order that automatically suspends licenses to practice law in Washington.
Hunter Biden filed a sealed affidavit in April, agreeing to his rejection and avoiding court hearing on the matter.
The speech also came just hours after longtime Biden aide Michael Donilon testified to House Oversight Committee investigators that he could have paid a total of $8 million if the former president won a re-election bid in 2024.
Donilon told the committee, “The president aged his presidency for four years, and President Biden did it, but continued to grow stronger and wisely as a leader as a result of being tested by some of the toughest challenges he has ever faced,” Donilon told the committee in his allegations that he had hidden his mental decline.

The National Bar Association said that Biden’s appearance “emphasizes his continued efforts to strengthen the rule of law, defend the right to vote, and support historically marginalized communities.”
