Omaha City Councilman Blinker Harding has launched a bid to carry on the success of U.S. Rep. Don Bacon, who announced he would not seek re-election next year.
“I am my husband, father, businessman and Omaha City Councilman. Today I am announcing my council run at NE-02, making America like a Heartland and making the next 250 years a new golden age for America. Harding was declared in a July 1 post on X.
Bacon, who has served in Congress since 2017, announced that he will finish his current term, but will not be run for reelection in 2026.

“Thanks to @donjbacon. 30 years of outstanding service in the Air Force and 10 years of dedicated leadership representing the NE-02 in Congress,” Harding declared in a June 30 post on X.
Republicans are divided into this issue, but Bacon is a solid supporter of US aid to Ukraine.
